Loop Head Peninsula is situated in West Clare, Ireland – and comprises the villages of Cross, Kilbaha and Carrigaholt, as well as the charming seaside town of Kilkee, with its beautiful sheltered bay and stunning beach.
Over the years, Loop Head has attracted everyone from birders and dolphin-watchers, to Star Wars film crews and historians. Having earned its name as one of the Wild Atlantic Way’s most dramatic headland – Loop Head offers something for everyone.
The spectacular cliff scenery of the Peninsula’s coastal road is second to none, and to the east you’ll be treated to views of the Bridges of Ross – natural arches of limestone. Birdlife is rich here, and there are around 160 bottlenose dolphins living in the waters. You should be able to spot them playing in the area – or take a Dolphin watch boat trip from Carrigaholt.
From walking to cycling and snorkelling in natural pools, to windsurfing, sailing and horse-back riding – Loop Head Peninsula is an adventure waiting to happen.
